This past Monday (CLICK HERE to see the 11/23/2020 episode) after having an AMAZING conversation with my guest, Courtney Young-Allison about how we change our lives, I asked for some general guidance.

And I pulled the Four of Swords!

You guys, I have been pulling this card over and over again since November 2019! Some day I’ll have to write a post about stalker cards, but for now, let’s just say I’m feeling beat over the head with this message to rest and heal. How much resting and healing can we need? Amiright?

Well, it can be a lot more than we like to admit. When there’s a lot of stress going on, rest is needed on a regular basis. And considering the year 2020 has been . . . well, we all ought to be making sure we’re getting plenty of sleep and unplugging from the news and the internet more often.

Set aside some time to decompress, to be alone, and to unwind. While binging Netflix in my PJs with a bag of popcorn and a glass of sangria is one of my faves, maybe it’s time to unwind with some calming music and a pot of soothing herbal tea, like chamomile.

Grab some crystals like selenite, lapis lazuli, and amethyst and do some introspective journaling. If you think you don’t have time for this kind of nonsense, that may be the problem. Maybe it’s time to slow down and “indulge” in some self-care before you rush into something that will only make things worse.

This is the time to re-evaluate how you approach reaching your goals and dealing with adversity. Is it working? or is it making you feel like day-old bread? Dried out and flavorless?

Are you ignoring symptoms that something physical is going on? What are those headaches, muscle pains, and stomach upsets really trying to tell you? If you’re worried, you have a right to be, but maybe it’s time to figure out how to cope better.

Here are 8 questions you need to ask yourself when you pull the Four of Swords:

  1. How can you make time for rest and relaxation?
  2. How can you reduce your workload?
  3. What needs to change to avoid burnout?
  4. Do you need some extra time and space before taking action?
  5. Have you been taking on too much? Do you feel burned out?
  6. How can you nurture yourself right now?
  7. What needs to be healed?
  8. What are you worried about and how can you use those worries?

These questions are in part inspired by The Field Notes by Chris-Anne, creator of the Light Seer’s Tarot, and part from my own musings.

Use these questions to figure out if you have been taking the time to properly rest, and not just sleep. Are you headed for burnout, or already there?
